As Forrester Research announced today e-commerce in Europe will for the first time grow beyond 100 bln EUR in 2006. Average growth per year in the next 5 years is expected to be 21%. The biggest winners will be catalogue companes as the likes of Neckermann and Otto in Germany who are expected to grow faster than travel sites. While the UK is number one in Europe, growth rates will be higher in Germany (22% vs. 12%). The FAZ has an interesting map showing how people buy online in different regions in Germany. The catalogue sites can be seen in this map too with Hamburg (Otto) and Nurnberg/Fürth (Neckermann) being the leaders next to - interestingly - Berlin Brandenburg.
