Cisco enters WiMAX space

The rumors have been out for quite some time. Now it is official: Not Redline Communications, nor Alvarion, but Texas startup Navini has been acquired by Cisco Systems, for 330 million USD. It can be assumed that this will give the WiMAX space a boost, since Cisco is the most aggressive - and successful - data communication vendor in the market.

RIM and Microsoft to work together?

While checking out the new RIM BlackBerry 8820 Maps website I got hit by this surprising Notice:

To ensure that BlackBerry Maps is correctly downloaded to your BlackBerry, this site is not designed to work with any other Internet browsers. If you cannot use Internet Explorer, you may be able to download the software directly to your BlackBerry smartphone.

Just funny, or a first hint of what is to come? More annoying still was the background music, which is too spiritual for my taste and does not seem to match the values of most business users, I would think.
