In an interview in the Swiss Economic Forum magazine, Skype founder Niklas Zennström gave a glimpse of their plans for 2006.
- will move towards mobile handsets
- offer Skype within eBay (currently only in China available)
- develop a small business version providing additional services (already launched a site)
- further develop their 200+ partner network (see e.g. Polycom latest news)
- integrate with PBX functions
- integrate with Outlook
The last two show that they have looked at Mediastream's (acquired by Microsoft) offering which combines the multitude of calling functions of PBXs with VoIP for internal data networks. They have their product integrated with Outlook and Exchange server.
