When I read this news today I was first a bit surprised to hear that French Schneider Electric (11bln revenue, 85k employees) has bought, for USD 6bln,
American Power Conversion (2bln revenue and 7k employees). Although the size difference of the two power equipment vendors is obviously big, Schneider has been associated with the legacy world of industrial industries wheras APC was and still has been (double digit growth) the representation of the ICT industries delivering into these markets. Having said that we might simply see here what is becoming more and more obvious: Information and telecommunications are legacy industries too and join the many others that over time became commodities as well.
