Imagine you could not only run your laptop for 15 hours straight (with a 0.1 liter methanol tank) but also be able to recharge it instantly (simply refill the methanol tank). That's what fuel cells promise to do, and last week Samsung announced commercial availability of such a laptop fuel cell for end of 2007. See comments here and there and also Samsung's research center website.

They did not mention, though, how much it will cost. I think that initial pricing will be very steep still, so don't expect that it will pop up in your PC store this year already.
The laptop picture below shows a 1 liter version that will run for a month. Obviously this is not a truly mobile option but more of a demo. As a recharging unit for e.g. cell phones it could also be very useful, and that's what the other picture above shows.
