- WiMAX frequencies will be auctioned off in Germany now next week starting on Tuesday 12th. The website where you will find info on the six to-be-expected bidders and the status of the auction is here.
- Now Nintendo has also launched its new Wii game console in Europe. Overall opinions are that it has a great, high precision remote control with motion sensors and a few excellent games such as "The legend of Zelda" or "Wii Sports". Pricing is relatively high, though, and it is positioned more against Sony's Playstation 2 rather than against Microsoft's Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3, which both have much more processing power and high-definition video quality. But the Wii is excellent for video game newcomers who want to play with friends or family on the TV set. Now the mentioned remote control could well be the beginning of the age of new elaborate human-machine control systems such as e.g. using force-feedback which would not only allow users to move and point but also to feel resistance like when you touch things. Take a look at the Swiss company Force Dimension's website and you see what I am talking about here.
- With news from Siemens you get some of the effect of recent news from Iraq. You know it is bad and even if it is getting worse news saturation is so high that you are actually not receptive for the full details anymore. That Siemens communications department has a serious competency problem has been known for some time, but of course it really shows when things are as bad as they are right now. This will be - promised - the last comment from us on Siemens, unless something really bad (no clue what that could still be) happens there.
